Le Update

This is mainly to get that annoying April Fool's journal off my page (getting stale fast).

In other news:
:bulletred: It is officially May (duh). Only 20 more days until Prom, more than a month until Graduation. (Magi-Kat's May look will be loosely based on my prom dress. As for what it really looks like... well, only one person on dA will truly know that).

:bulletred: Pardon my lack of art and such as school (and a certain RP led by ~LemGambino and ~Retro7) were distracting me. I planned to take a hiatus until mid-cycle (it's Fourth Cycle as of April 21, the last cycle of the year) but with my chipper mood (and seeming inability to leave), it'll take some extra effort.

:bulletred: Another reason for my lack of new art is how, despite my sketching, I can't be arsed to go through with a new inking and coloring style ([link]) *shakes fist at Lem*. Another factor is how sometimes, due to my perfectionist nature (which I'm trying to tone down), I end up dissatisfied with my art (that's why it took so long for me to get a new ID). This is bad since I want to make a new comic series (you can guess what it is), among other things.

:bulletred: Went to an anime convention in Hoboken with my school's anime club a few weeks ago. Gotten myself lots of Japanese candy, ramune, a Hatsune Miku T-shirt, and a Star Guide plushie *huggles it*. I DO regret not getting a button of a Gothic Lolita and G1 Bumblebee (courtesy of Lemiisan, my own curiosity, and "Transformers: Animated" (which is a rather corny name for the show since there was ALREADY an animated Transformers series, should've stuck with the original name), I've become a minor Transfan with Bumblebee being my Starscream. At least... until Prowl dethroned him as my fave (ninjas rule!). He's still the Prince of Moe though).

:bulletred: While Caramelldansen is okay, it cannot beat Anataboshi!

:bulletred: A few months ago, my Creative Writing (now Journalism) teacher entered a short story I wrote as a homework assignment into a contest. To my surprise, I won first place in Short Story! :woot: In addition to attending a ceremony, all participants were welcome to select some books from a table. Well, the newest additions to my collection were:
Dracula by Bram Stoker (which I'm reading to this day. I blame the RP, especially Richie)
War of the World by H.G. Wells
Animal Rescue (Various authors)
Princess of Mars by Edgar Rich Burroughs (I'm just curious)
Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift

:bulletgreen: In addition to trying to break away from my fanartist image here at dA, I'm trying to expand my horizons as far as my blog is concerned. Jeez, I just want to expand everywhere!

And that's pretty much it... Kat's nth ramble has been complete! (Me want the Cloverfield DVD NOW!)

Ya know =/

I know two certain friends of mine who are getting a kick out of the "Mudkip avatar" prank but it's not winning me over.

Happy April Fools indeed. (Sorry, hackerz).

Moving on :movingon:.

3 Magical Years

No one's going to care at this point but to those who do care, today is my netiversary.

Since I was so busy these past few weeks, the date somewhat slipped my mind and I had little time to prepare. (Because of that, I'll "celebrate" it until April 18 at the latest).

Since I'm tight on time and I'm stuck artwise, might as well come out and say it. (Though if you're still hungry for a drawing, you can look what I made for International Wota's anniversary/birthday: [link]).

Happy netiversary to me and a bientot!

Hatsune Miku does Sonic!

  • Watching: "Hatsune Miku VOCALOID2 - Sonic Medley"
(Chances are that you've seen this before)

[link]

I was looking at a vocaloid video I embedded in my blog and found this sweet little Sonic medley (someone must've made it ;)).

Starlight Zone (Sonic 1)
This one takes home the cuteness award with little Miku la-la'ing the melody. Reminds me of Takako Minekawa's work somewhat.

Emerald Hill Zone (Sonic 2)
I love the dreamy quality of this segment (along how "Starlight" segues into "Emerald Hill"). I'm also getting visions of spring too (probably because of the background).

Chemical Plant Zone (Sonic 2)
The transition is a little slow but the somewhat jazzy/funky quality of this part makes up for it. You'll see what I mean.

Knuckles' Theme (Sonic (3) & Knuckles)
It's fast and short but it's cute. This part made me lol.

Ice Cap Zone (Sonic 3 [& Knuckles])
The good parts ended with Knuckles. This is probably my least favorite of all because it sounds so out-of-tune at some parts. I know the "music" is low but even with the music being on key, the voice is off in some places.

Flying Battery Zone (Sonic 3 [& Knuckles])
This was also done pretty badly until the "chorus." Maybe I'm being too critical.

So, overall, the renditions were good until Knuckles. After that one, it went downhill. A 3/5 (4/5 since I like the first three so much and I'm a nice person).

Bonus vids for showing sake
Green Hill Zone (Sonic 1)
Angel Island Zone Act 2 (Sonic 3 [& Knuckles])
They're pretty meh to me but I'll let you see it so you'll have an opinion to form.

Another thing:
Subscribed until Mar 11, 2008, 8:58 PM
Did it have to be a month? It went by so fast. Oh well, there will be other subscriptions. Bye bye, CSS (for now).

amor et pax,
Kat :heart::peace:

P.S. I'm going to be busy (both online and irl) for a while after this (hopefully busy since I have grown a slight habit of procrastination, ironic considering those hand-colored pics I posted weeks ago. One project is making a new temporary CSS since this one looks super-crappy cruddy).
